⬇️ the 2016 leadership moment that’s been on my mind...

Hey Reader!

In 2016, the school I founded hit a big milestone: we expanded into 8th grade and had to get our high school plan ready to launch.

High school is pretty complicated especially when it comes to course offerings, credits and sequencing–

So we took on a big change: new curricula for our 7th/8th grade core subjects.

It made sense on paper–

but in real life it was a hot mess. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Not all at once, and not overnight–

but having a lot of our staff (and students) trying to do something differently at the same exact time…

Frustration, tears, resentment, conflict all become a regular part of everyday life. Not fun.

Here’s the part that I didn’t know then–but I do now.

The struggle had nothing to do with how hard I was working. (so so hard)

We weren’t getting traction because my solutions were not fixing the right problem.

I was doing all the things:

  • I fixed the communications.
  • I changed our meeting cadence.
  • I mediated conversations between stakeholders.
  • I went back to the why.

And did not see the progress I wanted. At all.

It was SO discouraging. 😞

What I didn’t understand then—and what I see all the time now—is that leaders often work incredibly hard while solving the wrong problem.

Reader, if you know that discouraging feeling–trying all the things and not seeing progress–I designed a free 1-hour masterclass for you.

It's live for an hour, with three date/time options:

  • Tuesday, January 27, at 12:00 pm ET/11:00 am CT/9:00 am PT
  • Wednesday, January 28, at 3:00 pm ET/2:00 pm CT/12:00 pm PT
  • Thursday, February 5, at 12:00 pm ET/11:00 am CT/9:00 am PT

I can’t wait to get into this masterclass and walk you through the repeatable process you can use to figure out what’s actually getting in the way--

so you can take the next step that gets you the progress you want to see.

You will leave with:

  • A simple way to pinpoint the issue (so you’re not playing whack-a-mole guessing at solutions like I did)
  • The right next step to take based on your findings
  • Time for live Q & A so you can ask any specific nuances that are on your mind

Live Bonus: If you show up live, I’ll send you my ready-to-use pack of 10+ scripts and prompts for tricky leadership moments, like:

  • Resetting expectations when someone isn’t meeting the bar
  • Naming tension in a meeting without making it worse
  • Having the conversation you’ve been avoiding (in a way that protects trust)

I know you’re pressed for time and you have a million things on your to-do list already–which is why I’ve designed this so that I can confidently promise that you will leave with a clear diagnosis and the right step.

Also, you should know this 👇...

We are not going to talk about working harder, communicating more, or adding a whole new pile of things for you to manage.

Instead, we’ll get strategic: make a pinpoint diagnosis, so your next step actually builds momentum.

The process I walk you through works whether you're leading a major change like I was or just trying to get one thing to go differently.

Save your seat here.

Can't wait to see you soon!

Take care,

Beth

P.S. Can’t decide now? You’ll get the replay if you register for any date. The live bonus 🎁 is only for live attendees–and it’s designed to be immediately useful.

Hey Reader! Yesterday I talked to 3 school leaders: two on calls and one I ran into at a bris. In all those convos, the feeling of this time of year came up--the finish line is in sight, yet the to-do list feels unending. End of year testing, field trips, graduations, ceremonies, staff plans changing for next year suddenly.... plus we've caught Knicks fever over here, and the NBA finals are keeping me up wayyyy past my bedtime. (Worth it but wow I am tired.) Some of you have ended the school...

Hey Reader, Chances are high by now you've heard of May-cember: that busy time of year with end of year trips, performances, plays, recitals, .. all the joyful end of school year activities that on their own are great, but can add up to be a lot. As a solo parent with three kids who are all "seniors" at their schools (if 5th grade or 8th grade can be a senior), this year for me brings award ceremonies for all kids, new school orientations for the 3 new schools they are attending in the fall...

Hey! Reader! How are all my Perennial Plus signs doing this last day of April? (whoa, right?) Since next week is the first full week of May that means it's Teacher Appreciation Week. (If you're a school leader and this just gave you a heart attack, I'm so sorry. I have a Teacher Appreciation Week Planning Guide here you can use that I promise you can work even as last minute as Sunday or Monday--DNR, but I've been in your shoes and get it!) I feel like 👵🏻 saying this, but back when I first...
